How Much Does Travel Insurance Cost in Nigeria?
What actually moves the premium, what the money buys you in cover limits, and why the cheapest policy is not automatically the best value.
The honest answer is that there is no single price, and anyone who quotes you one without asking where you are going has guessed. Travel insurance is priced per trip, and the same traveller can pay very different amounts for two journeys in the same year.
What follows is what actually moves the price, what you get for it, and how to see your own figure. You can price your real trip dates in a couple of minutes without paying anything.
What actually moves the price
- Where you are going. Destinations are grouped into zones. A Schengen trip prices differently from a worldwide one, because the cover itself is different, not only the label.
- How long you are away. A two week holiday and a full academic year abroad are not comparable. Length is the biggest single factor for most people.
- How many people are travelling. Each traveller is priced individually.
- Age. Premiums reflect the age of each person covered.
This is why the quote form asks for your destination and your exact outward and return dates before it shows a figure. Change any one of those and the number changes, so price your own trip rather than a typical one.

Price means nothing without the schedule it buys. On the worldwide zone, the premium covers emergency medical and associated expenses up to EUR 35,000, including treatment for COVID-19, with a EUR 50 excess. On the Schengen zone the medical limit is EUR 30,000, set to meet the visa requirement. Both are shown on the quote page.
Beyond medical, the same premium carries baggage, document, delay and legal benefits:
| Cover | Worldwide | Schengen |
|---|---|---|
| Emergency medical and associated expenses | EUR 35,000 | EUR 30,000 |
| Repatriation of remains | EUR 1,500 | EUR 1,500 |
| COVID-19 quarantine accommodation | EUR 90 per day, up to 14 days | |
| Loss of checked-in baggage | EUR 20 per kg, up to EUR 500 | EUR 300 |
| Loss of passport or travel documents | EUR 750 | EUR 200 |
| Trip delay | EUR 500 | EUR 300 |
| Missed departure or connection | EUR 500 | EUR 300 |
| Bail bond | EUR 2,000 | EUR 400 |
| 24/7 travel assistance | Included | Included |
The worldwide zone also covers medical evacuation and loss of personal money, which the Schengen zone does not. That difference is part of what you are paying for, and it is a better reason to choose a zone than the premium alone, and both are priced side by side.
When cheap is genuinely cheap, and when it is not
A lower premium is not automatically worse value, but compare like with like before deciding. Three things make a policy cost less:
- Lower limits. A smaller medical ceiling costs less and pays less.
- Higher excess. The excess is the first part of a claim you pay yourself. A policy can look cheap and still leave you funding the first slice of everything.
- Fewer benefits. Missing evacuation or document cover reduces the premium and the protection together.
The number worth checking is not only the premium. It is the premium next to the limit and the excess. Our full schedule, including every excess, is on the travel insurance page before you commit.
Paying for it from Nigeria
You buy online and pay online. The quote is shown before payment, and your certificate is issued once the completed application is paid, then sent to your email.
One practical note. Check that your destination is one we can issue before you plan around it. A small number of countries sit outside our underwriter's book, and the form checks at the point of purchase so you find out before paying rather than afterwards.

How much is travel insurance in Nigeria?
There is no single price. It depends on your destination zone, how long you are away, how many people are travelling and their ages. The quote page prices your actual dates and shows the figure before you pay.
Why is my quote different from someone else's?
Because the inputs differ. Destination zone, trip length, traveller count and age all change the premium. A two week trip and a full year abroad are not comparable.
Is the cheapest policy the best value?
Not necessarily. Premiums fall when limits fall, when the excess rises or when benefits are removed. Compare the premium against the medical limit and the excess, not on its own.
What does the premium actually cover?
Emergency medical up to EUR 35,000 worldwide or EUR 30,000 on Schengen, plus baggage, document, delay, legal and bail bond benefits, and 24/7 travel assistance. Full limits are published on the travel insurance page.
Do I pay anything to get a quote?
No. The quote is free and you see the price before any payment is taken.
When is my certificate issued?
Once your completed application is paid. It is sent to your email address.
